WOW! What an incredible day we had this past Sunday in Windsor, celebrating 13 years of WCSUK! I was particularly thrilled to see such a full dance floor for the Line Dance workshops! Really made me smile!
This annual event is a huge operational undertaking so there are some very special people to thank for all of their help; Paul Abbott & Janette Fox (venue set up, door & deejaying), Coleen Man (Flashmob Rally workshop & judging), Fabienne Henshall (judging), Justin Petersen (comp deejay), Lee Easton (line dance class & comp scoring), Graham Burke (resident deejay), Femma Anderson (photography), Ned Gould (videography), Gale Vincent & Clare Nethercott (baking), and last but not least my amazing boyfriend Daniel Trepat (line dance classes, judging, performance & general event preparation…plus completing the construction of my 4 metre wide wardrobe)! 😉
Massive Congratulations must go to all our WCSUK Annual Awards recipients;
– Most Improved Female – Anne Ligez
– Most Improver Male – Sumihiro Yamazaki
– Dancers’ Choice Favourite Female – Lindsey Rowatt
– Dancers’ Choice Favourite Male – Ari Henemulla
– Dancers’ Choice Favourite Deejay – Paul Abbott (with a staggering record 89% of the votes!)
Massive Congratulations also go to our Royal Marsden Cancer Charity “Jill & Jack” contest winners, aptly renamed by Lee Easton 😉 ;
– 3rd Place – “She’ll Pyne For A Guy” (Sheila Pynegar) leading “Paul What A Butt” (Paul Abbott)
– 2nd Place – “Heather Punishman” (Heather Cunningham) leading “Flenky Vinn” (Kevin Flynn)
– 1st Place – “Susan D-Minor” (Susan Minor) leading “All Roads Lead To Roman” (Roman Lavrov)
I am delighted to reveal that we have raised £1193.60 to date plus an undisclosed amount that was put into the tamper-proof Royal Marsden charity box which has totally smashed our goal of £500 by way more than double! And the donations are still coming in! So on behalf of myself, the WCSUK team and the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, I would like to thank each and every one of you that came along to support on the day and those that have made donations in person or via my Just Giving page! If you’d still like to donate, here’s the link;
Roll on 2019!
It’s that time of the year again! You’re all invited to join us for a full day of dance and fun to mark the occasion of our West Coast Swing UK 13th Year Anniversary! It’s also my 18th Year of being cancer-free thanks to life saving treatment I received via the NHS back in 2000! Miracles do happen but there are still an awful lot of cancer tragedy stories which each and every one of us are affected by at some point or another! In fact, sadly my mother Robin lost her brief but intense battle with cancer 7 years ago and since that moment, all of my fundraising efforts have been and will be made in her memory!
It is my goal to be able to raise at least £500 from this party to donate to the Royal Marsden as a thank you for the miraculous work they do on a daily basis! Last year we set the same goal but managed to raise a fantastic £1070 which well exceeded my goal! Maybe we’ll be able to do the same again this year, or with your help, possibly even better!
So please join me in celebrating 13 years of WCSUK, my survival, all of your stories with happy endings and this fundraising effort! Thank you all so much in advance!
On the day, you will be able to anonymously nominate names for the following categories;
1 – “Dancers’ Choice” Most Popular Female Dancer
2 – “Dancers’ Choice” Most Popular Male Dancer
3 – “Dancers’ Choice” Favourite Deejay
If you cannot make the party but would like to vote by proxy, you can confidentially send me a FB message, email, text or call with your choices and your votes will be counted! Better still, come along and see your favourite peeps receive their awards!
We will also be awarding “Most Improved Male & Female Dancers” as selected by the WCSUK team!
