Regrettably, due to the current lockdown restrictions remaining in place, we have no choice but to postpone this special annual event! Fingers crossed we won’t have to wait too long to schedule an alternative date! In the mean time, stay safe and well everyone!
WOW! What an incredible day we had in Windsor on Sunday 18 August, celebrating our West Coast Swing UK 14th Year Anniversary Party! I was particularly thrilled to see such a full dance floor for the Flashmob Rally and Line Dance workshops!
This annual event is a huge operational undertaking so there are some very special people to thank for all of their help; Paul Abbott, Luis Abbott, Janette Fox and Jeanette Butler (venue set up, door & deejaying), Jordan George (judging), Justin Petersen (comp deejay), Graham Burke (resident deejay), Femma Anderson (photography), Kezia Marshall (Samuel) and Ekow Eric Oduro (videography), Stewart Warren and Gale Vincent (baking), and last but not least my amazing boyfriend Daniel Trepat (Flashmob Rally and line dance workshops, judging, performance & general event preparation…plus jet washing and oiling the deck ready for our family BBQ next Sunday)! 😉
Massive Congratulations must go to all our WCSUK Annual Awards recipients;
– Most Improved Female – Sophie Bloomfield
– Most Improver Male – Mark McCormack
– Dancers’ Choice Favourite Female – Lindsey Rowatt
– Dancers’ Choice Favourite Male – Mark Simpson
– Dancers’ Choice Favourite Deejay – Paul Abbott (again!)
Massive Congratulations also go to our Royal Marsden Cancer Charity “Jill & Jack” contest winners;
– 1st Place – Susan Minor leading Ricky Fox
– 2nd Place – Terri McLaughlin leading Mark Taylor
– 3rd Place – Chloe Emma leading Antonio Fratini
I am delighted to reveal that through ticket sales, Jill & Jack contest entry fees, JustGiving donations, cash donations and Isabella Maria Cooke’s reflexology treatments, we have raised an amazing £1445 to date which has totally smashed our goal of £500 by almost triple! And the donations are still coming in, not to mention the undisclosed amount in the Royal Marsden tamper-proof collection box! So on behalf of myself, the WCSUK team and the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, I would like to thank each and every one of you that came along to support on the day and those that have made donations in person or via my Just Giving page! If you’d still like to donate, here’s the link!
Roll on our 15th Year Anniversary Party, August 2020! ♥
WOW! It’s that time of the year again! You’re all invited to join us for a full day of dance and fun to mark the occasion of our West Coast Swing UK 15th Year Anniversary! It’s also my 20th Year of being cancer-free thanks to life saving treatment I received via the NHS back in 2000! And more recently, my father Tony has also made a spectacular recovery from bowel cancer! Miracles do happen but there are still an awful lot of cancer tragedy stories which each and every one of us are affected by at some point or another! In fact, sadly my mother Robin lost her brief but intense battle with cancer 8 years ago and since that moment, all of my fundraising efforts have been and will be made in her memory!
It is my goal to be able to raise at least £1000 from this party (double my normal annual target) to donate to the Royal Marsden as a thank you for the miraculous work they do on a daily basis! Last year we raised a staggering £1193.60 plus an undisclosed amount that was put into the tamper-proof Royal Marsden charity box, which totally smashed our goal by way more than double! Maybe we’ll be able to do the same again this year, or with your help, possibly even better!
So please join me in celebrating 15 years of WCSUK, my survival, all of your stories with happy endings and this fundraising effort! Thank you all so much in advance!
On the day, you will be able to anonymously nominate names for the following categories;
1 – “Dancers’ Choice” Most Popular Female Dancer
2 – “Dancers’ Choice” Most Popular Male Dancer
3 – “Dancers’ Choice” Favourite Deejay
If you cannot make the party but would like to vote by proxy, you can confidentially send me a FB message, email, text or call with your choices and your votes will be counted! Better still, come along and see your favourite peeps receive their awards!
We will also be awarding “Most Improved Male & Female Dancers” as selected by the WCSUK team!
